TRINITY DEFENDS PASTOR

More than 6,000 people took part in Palm Sunday services at Trinity United Church of Christ. Wright is retiring from the pulpit and Sunday the church's new pastor preached a sermon titled Why the Black Church Won't Shut Up. Before the service began, a statement was handed out by ushers defending Wright as a teacher of Black liberation theology and describing the controversy as a "modern-day lynching."
