Getting to Know.. Tullian Tchividjian

William Graham Tullian Tchividjian, the 37-year-old grandson of evangelist Billy Graham will took the pulpit of the late D. James Kennedy at Fort Lauderdale's Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church one year ago. Here’s some background on Tchividjian:

• Tchividjian is pronounced chi-VID-gen
• Friends call him Tullian
• Described as “energetic and easygoing”
• Born July 13, 1972, grew up in Coral Springs
• His parents kicked him out of the house at 16 for promiscuity, drinking and drugs
• Attended Westminster Academy
• Studied philosophy at South Carolina's Columbia International
• Attended Orlando’s Reformed Theological Seminary
• Server three years as assistant pastor at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville
• Formally pastor at Margate, Florida’s New City Church
• He founded New City 5 ½ years ago
• Does not oversee the radio, television and print media arm of the church or Westminster Academy and Knox Theological Seminary
• Says he will stay away from politics though he’s a registered Republican

David and Goliath: The Movie

There are reports that Hollywood plans to make a movie about David and Goliath. Only, in this version (tentatively called Goliath), the young shepherd is chased by the giant across the ancient world. The script apparently ignores the Biblical record. Scott Derrickson, who directed the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still is behind the film.

The Prodical Comes Home

When Ted "The Voice" Williams reunited with his mother in a midtown Manhattan conference room, he ran to her and they embraced. She said, "My prodigal son has finally come home." Here's a video of the emotional moment. He reminds her that she always told him to pray and he tells her that he did.






Grassley Ends Investigation

A 3 year probe into the financies of 6 televangelists finds no wrong doing by the ministries. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa led the investigation into the organizations headed by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Eddie Long, Creflo Dollar of World Changers Church International, Randy and Paula White, Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn. The last two say they've made changes to their financial structure, while the other 4 refused to provide any information.

Haggard Gets TV Show

Former megachurch pastor Ted Haggard, who resigned after a sex scandal, will appear in a reality special on TLC. The one-hour special is titled Ted Haggard: Scandalous. If the show gets an audience, it could become a series. Haggard was also featured in an HBO documentary called, The Trials of Ted Haggard. Scandalous will air Sunday, January 16 at 8 and again at 10 pm.

How Faith helped uncover a 'golden voice'

You've probably heard about the Ted Williams story.. the homeless man with the great voice. Did you know that it was the Christian faith of a news producer that motivated him to shoot the video that went viral. Doral Chenoweth works for the Columbus Dispatch and spoke to reporters about why he stopped. "It's part of my faith. You may not be able to help someone with money, but you can at least say hello, how you doing, and look at them." His interest in the homeless started more than a decade ago when he was assigned to photograph a homeless ministry at New Life United Methodist Church in downtown Columbus.It lead him to join the church. He and his wife are regular Habitat for Humanity volunteers who have taken seven trips to Africa with their children.

Ted Williams' Mom: "God Has Answered My Prayer"

The homeless man with the amazing voice found begging on the side of an Interstate highway ramp says he was going to write "another year wasted" in a date planning books that someone gave him. But Ted Williams told interviewers it turned out to not be a wasted year because he "found God." Williams story went viral after a video of him showed up on YouTube (more than 3 million hits). Despite job offers and other gifts from well-wishers, Williams says his biggest wish was to be reunited with his 90 year old mother, whom he hasn't seen in more than a decade. He says, "One of my biggest prayers is that she would live long enough to see me rebound.." She told reporters "God has answered my prayer. I prayed that I would live to see this time when he would do well." Not only have the two been reunited, the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association called to offer Ted a job. Rapture Prediction

Radio Evangelist Harold Camping says the Bible predicts that the end of the world is just months away. The 89-year-old heads Family Radio Worldwide, based out of California and says May 21st is the day the Christian church will be raptured. This isn't the first time he's predicted this happening. Death Sentence for Blasphemy

CNN reports on a Christian sentenced to death in Pakistan for blasphemy.

Suspended for Bible Verse

A Florida corrections officer has has been suspended over a Bible verse. The Manatee County Sheriff's department corrections Sgt. Matthew Neu circled a Bible verse in Psalms (109:8) and left the Bible on the desk of another corrections sergeant, along with a note that described the verse as The Obama Prayer. The verse reads, "Let his days be few, and let another take his office." The following verse reads, "May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow." The officer who found the Bible on her desk says she believed that the person who marked the passage wanted Obama dead. Neu says he told investigators that he did not mean to make any threat against the president. He saw the verse in an email and "thought it was funny."

Robertson's Predictions

Pat Robertson is making his predictions for 2011. On today's 700 Club, the televangelist told his TV audience that God told him the US is heading for economic turmoil, but there will be no global nuclear holocaust.

St James Engaged

Australian Christian singer Rebecca St. James got engaged Christmas Day. Jacob Fink lives in Southern California and spent two years as a missionary in South Africa. St. James lives in Tennessee and has two gold records and one Grammy to her credit. Her 9th studio album will be out in April.

Attack on Church

President Obama says a New Year's Day bombing at an Egyptian church was "targeting Christian worshippers." The suicide bomber left at least 21 people dead and wounded 97 others at the al-Qiddissin Church in Alexandria. Experts say the attack appears to be the work of al-Qaida. It is one in a series of attacks against Christians in the Middle East in recent weeks.
