Name Change for Armstrong Church

The Worldwide Church of God is changing its name. The organization founded by Herbert W. Armstrong was considered a cult by Evangelicals for years. But after Armstrong's death in 1986, the church took a conservative theological turn. The denomination will now be known as Grace Communion International. It’s also become a member of the National Association of Evangelicals.

Notably, the church is still not a member of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability, nor does it provide any kind of financial reports whatsoever, either for the past, or for the present.

Additionally, Joseph Tkach Jr., remains the uncontested and ruling authority over the body of the church, i.e., "god's government on earth", with Tkach Jr. at the top.

More information on the name change, as well as links to other blogs and web pages of former members, can be found here.

Thank you.
