Atheist Challenge Rejected

A Washington, DC judge has turned down a request to stop Obama's swearing-in ceremony from containing references to God. Atheist Michael Newdow had claimed it was a violation of church and state separation. But the judge said the religious references were similar to the prayers offered in state legislators that the Supreme Court has permitted.

The president-elect traditionally says "so help me God" in the oath and there is an invocation and benediction. This year, Rick Warren will deliver the invocation and Joseph Lowery will give the benediction.
