A new video advertisement for Samuel Adams quotes the Declaration of Independence--but leaves out a reference to God. The actor in the ad says, "All men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." But that's not what the document says. It reads “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Samuel Adams’ Facebook page, which you can see here, has received many comments on the topic. The beer company blames the decision on the ethics laid out in The Beer Institute Advertising Code (a voluntary agreement among companies in the industry) which says "Beer advertising and marketing materials should not include religion or religious themes."
